Job description
3 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Job Purpose:
To support the Team Manager in leading and managing the Learning Disability Team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services. The role includes providing oversight of practice, supporting staff, and leading on quality assurance of assessments and reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the day-to-day management of the team
- Provide leadership, advice, and support to team members
- Deputise for the Team Manager when required
- Promote good practice and a positive team culture
- Oversee and quality assure assessments, care and support plans, and reviews
- Ensure all work meets statutory requirements, policies, and best practice standards
- Carry out audits and provide feedback to improve practice
- Monitor performance and support improvements where needed
- Support staff with complex cases and decision-making
- Hold a small caseload where required
- Ensure a strengths-based, person-centred approach is embedded in all work
- Provide supervision and guidance to allocated staff
- Support learning, development, and performance management
- Assist with staff induction and ongoing training
- Work with health professionals, partner agencies, and other stakeholders
- Promote effective multi-agency working
- Support the team to manage workloads across office, home, and community settings
- Ensure timely completion of visits, assessments, and reviews
- Provide oversight of safeguarding work and risk management
- Ensure appropriate actions are taken to protect individuals
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration
- Experience in Learning Disability services
- Experience supporting or supervising staff
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding
- Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
