2 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• The Building Safety Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and effective management of high-rise residential buildings within council housing stock.
• The role focuses on conducting inspections, supporting fire and building safety processes (including Person-Centred Fire Risk Assessments – PCFRAs), engaging with residents, and working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• The post holder contributes to maintaining safe living environments while supporting the smooth operation of Estate Services through both fieldwork and administrative responsibilities.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation, including the Building Safety Act.
• Conduct regular inspections of communal areas to identify hazards and ensure appropriate remedial actions are taken.
• Complete and maintain accurate records, including PCFRAs and safety documentation.
• Act as a point of contact for residents regarding building safety concerns and provide clear guidance and support.
• Work collaboratively with housing teams, contractors, and partner organisations to coordinate safety activities.
• Respond to resident enquiries and complaints, ensuring timely resolution or escalation where necessary.
• Support property and estate management by ensuring inspections, testing, and repairs are carried out in line with regulations.
• Contribute to service improvements, team meetings, and operational development.
• Provide administrative and business support within the Estate Operations Service.
• Maintain compliance with data protection, information security, and council policies.

Skills/Experience:
• Strong customer service and face-to-face engagement experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public in spoken English.
• Knowledge of health & safety regulations and building/resident safety (including fire safety and PCFRAs).
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
• Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with stakeholders.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Problem-solving mindset with a proactive, “can-do” approach.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Awareness of housing legislation (desirable, including the Building Safety Act 2022).

Additional Information:
• Bi-Weekly Payments.
• The closing day: 30/04/2026 @17:00.
• Contract role (agency) covering a vacant post.
• 36 hours per week, typically 09:00–17:00.
• Based within the community, requiring travel between sites.
• Requires flexible working to meet service needs, including potential emergency response duties.
• Enhanced DBS check required.
