2-3 month contract role with a local authority

Summary
  • This is a 2-3 month contract role with a local authority, aimed at providing assessment, care management, and social work services to disabled children and their families. The role is crucial in fulfilling the council’s duties and powers under relevant legislation and policies. The position also contributes to the development of the Centre as a specialist resource for children and young people with disabilities, ensuring best practices in service delivery. This role requires an experienced practitioner with at least three years of experience in local authority children's social care, capable of independently handling cases and adapting approaches to manage complex situations effectively.

Re​sponsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and manage care in the area of specialism for disabled children and their families.
  • Recommend service provisions in line with Children Services' threshold and eligibility criteria.
  • Provide social work services to designated service users.
  • Manage, monitor, and review care plans, involving disabled children, young people, and their families, while liaising with other workers and agencies.
  • Adhere to the Council’s Financial regulations.
  • Utilize available resources, including funding sources, to maximize benefits for families within budgetary constraints.
  • Comply with Children Services recording policy and complete necessary forms and documents.
  • Use management information systems and technology for recording, retrieving, and analysing information.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development, relevant social policy, and key legislation, with a focus on safeguarding.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, with computer literacy for case recording and report production within strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills for direct work with children and the ability to work in partnership with parents/carers, prioritising children’s needs.
  • Familiarity with diversity/equality principles and experience working in a culturally/ethnically diverse locality.
Essential Qualifications
  • Degree in Social Work (minimum Upper Second, if classified) or equivalent.
  • Must be HPCP registered.
