Summary

We are seeking a qualified Electrician to join our Direct Repairs team on a 3-month contract. This role is essential for delivering high-quality electrical repairs and maintenance services to residents, internal teams, and external partners. The successful candidate will perform electrical testing, inspections, and installations, ensuring all work complies with current regulations and safety standards. This position is crucial in maintaining safe and compliant housing stock while providing excellent customer service. Occasional out-of-hours work will be required, offering additional earning opportunities.

Responsibilities

Electrical Repairs & Maintenance
- Perform electrical repairs, maintenance, and installations across residential properties.
- Diagnose faults and implement effective solutions efficiently.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in compliance with current regulations.

Testing, Inspection & Compliance
- Conduct electrical testing, inspections, and surveys.
- Perform portable appliance testing (PAT) as required.
- Complete certification and provide detailed reports on all works undertaken.
- Ensure compliance with the latest Wiring Regulations and health and safety standards.

Customer Service & Reporting
- Provide a professional and customer-focused service to residents and stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with tenants, colleagues, and contractors.
- Accurately complete job reports, documentation, and records.

Out of Hours & Flexibility
- Participate in out-of-hours work where required.
- Respond promptly to urgent repair requests and emergencies.

Requirements

Requirements:

Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical installation and/or maintenance.
- Strong experience in fault finding, repairs, and electrical systems maintenance.
- Experience working within housing or social housing environments (desirable).
- Proven experience conducting inspections, testing, and certification.

Qualifications & Skills
- Electrical Installation Qualifications (Essential – One Required)
  - NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation + AM2
  - City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2
  - City & Guilds 2330 Levels 2 & 3
  - City & Guilds 2365 Levels 2 & 3 + AM2
  - City & Guilds 2357 + AM2
  - Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346) + AM2E

Inspection & Testing (Essential – One Required)
- City & Guilds 2391 – Periodic Inspection & Testing
- City & Guilds 2395 – Inspection & Testing

Wiring Regulations (Essential)
- City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)

Skills
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and regulations
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
- Excellent attention to detail and compliance awareness
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
- No serious motoring offences within the last 10 years
- Minimum of 2 years’ driving experience
- Willingness to undertake driving licence checks
- Ability to work occasional out-of-hours shifts
