Job description

6 Month Contract With A Local Authority


Job Purpose

To carry out general building and domestic electrical maintenance, inspection, testing, and fault-finding works across residential properties. The post holder will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with current industry regulations and contract standards.




Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake general building and domestic electrical maintenance works.

  • Carry out inspection, fault finding, testing, and remedial works within domestic properties.

  • Complete rewiring projects and electrical installation works as required.

  • Perform electrical testing and certification in line with current regulations.

  • Ensure all electrical works comply with NICEIC standards and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Wiring Regulations – BS 7671: 18th Edition (including amendments).

  • Adhere to relevant health and safety legislation and company policies at all times.

  • Identify and report potential hazards, risks, and non-compliance issues.

  • Ensure all works meet required contractual and quality standards.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and certification for completed works.

  • Liaise professionally with tenants, clients, and colleagues while working in occupied properties.



Requirements

  • Proven experience in general building and domestic electrical maintenance.

  • Previous experience in inspection, fault finding, and testing of domestic installations.

  • Working knowledge of NICEIC requirements and BS 7671 (18th Edition, including amendments).

  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to electrical works.

  • Ability to identify and highlight potential safety hazards.

  • Experience working in social housing or tenanted properties.

  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).

  • 2391 (Inspection and Testing) or equivalent qualification.
