Job description
3 Month Contract With a Local Authority
Job Purpose
- Support Repairs Team Leaders in delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance services aligned with CBC’s vision and business objectives.
- Deliver excellent customer service and contribute to achieving customer service excellence standards.
- Carry out a wide range of electrical works across CBC properties.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, competently, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Repairs Team Leaders in delivering service plans, targets, and performance objectives.
- Support delivery of responsive repairs, void property works, planned maintenance, and compliance services.
- Carry out electrical installation, testing, maintenance, and repair work in line with current regulations (IEE and Building Regulations).
- Work in a multi-skilled environment and assist across other trades when required.
- Complete all work to a high standard within agreed timescales.
- Diagnose faults, identify appropriate remedial actions, and specify suitable materials.
- Ensure safe systems of work and comply with all Health & Safety legislation.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Introduce yourself to tenants, provide identification, and explain work being undertaken.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards when interacting with tenants and the public.
- Liaise with other trades to ensure efficient completion of work.
- Report variations, issues, hazards, and safeguarding concerns to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate records using PDAs or other systems (timesheets, job updates, materials, etc.).
- Participate in out-of-hours call-out rota.
- Keep work areas clean and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles responsibly.
- Order and manage materials in line with company procedures.
- Attend training, toolbox talks, and development sessions as required.
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, codes of practice, and statutory requirements.
- Promote continuous service improvement and customer satisfaction.
- Deliver community engagement activities such as tenant repair workshops when required.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
- City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection & Testing
- City & Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- City & Guilds 2377 – Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
- Health & Safety qualification (relevant certification)
- Advanced City & Guilds (or equivalent) in a building trade (desirable)
