3 Month Contract With A local Authority


Job Purpose

To carry out a wide range of electrical installation, repair, maintenance, testing, and inspection work across residential and commercial properties, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The role supports the delivery of responsive repairs, void property works, compliance programmes, and planned maintenance services while maintaining excellent customer service and full compliance with current electrical regulations and health and safety requirements.




Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical repairs, maintenance, testing, inspection, and installation work in accordance with current regulations and industry standards.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and identify appropriate remedial actions to ensure safe and effective repairs.
  • Complete electrical testing, inspections, and certification activities, including associated remedial works.
  • Support the delivery of responsive repairs, void property refurbishments, planned maintenance, and compliance programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and departments to ensure the efficient completion of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed within agreed timescales and to a high standard of quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, follow-on actions, and customer interactions using PDA and other reporting systems.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with tenants, residents, and members of the public.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota as required.
  • Maintain compliance with all health and safety legislation, safe systems of work, and company procedures.
  • Use, maintain, and inspect tools, equipment, vehicles, and testing devices in accordance with manufacturer guidance.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and report them through the appropriate channels.
  • Support service improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Attend training, toolbox talks, and development activities as required.
  • Ensure work areas are left clean, safe, and tidy upon completion of all tasks.


Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing.
  • City & Guilds 2382 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Portable Appliance Testing qualification (City & Guilds 2377 or equivalent).
  • Appropriate Health & Safety qualification.
  • Proven experience carrying out electrical repairs, maintenance, testing, and installation work.
  • Strong understanding of current electrical regulations, building regulations, and health and safety legislation.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and determine effective remedial solutions.
  • Experience working within occupied residential properties and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant building trade.
  • Experience working within social housing, local authority, or property maintenance environments.
  • Multi-skilled experience across additional building trades.
  • Experience using PDA systems and electronic job management systems.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and customer-focused service delivery.
