3-month contract role with a local authority

Summary
  • This is a 3-month contract role with a local authority, focused on managing a caseload of young people in the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer 'Full Potential' programme. The purpose of this role is to support care leavers into sustained employment, training, or education. The postholder will collaborate with colleagues, external partners, and employers to deliver a customized employment support service, helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a personal caseload of care-experienced young people (aged 16–25), providing one-to-one employability support and guidance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with young people, internal teams, and external stakeholders, including training providers and employers.
  • Deliver tailored interventions to support young people into employment, training, apprenticeships, or further education.
  • Provide practical advice on job searching, CV writing, interview preparation, and applications.
  • Identify and address barriers faced by young people, such as childcare, housing, or language support needs.
  • Maintain accurate case records, ensuring timely reporting and compliance with programme requirements.
Experience
  • Proven experience supporting care-experienced or vulnerable young people into employment, training, or education.
  • Experience working with young parents, young people with English as a second language, or those facing multiple barriers to employment.
  • Strong track record of building rapport and trust with young people.
  • Experience of partnership working with local employers, training providers, or support agencies.
Qualification
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and experience working in a multi-agency environment.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification (desirable).
  • Relevant vocational or professional qualifications in youth work, employability, social care, or related field (desirable).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
Additional Information
  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • DBS enhanced & barred list check (Child & adult) is an essential requirement.
  • The role is full-time and fully on-site, based between the Care Leavers Hub (7 Talfourd Place, SE15 5NW) and head office (160 Tooley Street, SE1 2QH).
  • Excellent transport links: Talfourd Place is a 10-minute walk from Peckham Rye station, and Tooley Street is a 5-minute walk from London Bridge station.
  • Travel within Southwark will be required to meet young people and employers.
