Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, motivate, and develop a multidisciplinary team, including Principal Enforcement Officers, Enforcement Officers, Assistant Enforcement Officers, and support staff.
- Provide professional supervision, guidance, coaching, and support to team members.
- Allocate workloads and monitor service delivery to ensure statutory obligations and performance targets are achieved.
- Conduct staff performance management, appraisals, objective setting, and development reviews.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and high professional standards.
Requirements:
Essential Experience Required:
- Extensive and current experience regulating food safety within a local authority environment.
- Significant experience undertaking food hygiene and food standards inspections and enforcement activities.
- Experience managing complex food safety investigations and enforcement cases.
- Experience leading, supervising, or managing regulatory services staff.
Essential Qualifications Required:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health or a related discipline.
- Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) Certificate or equivalent qualification required to practice as an Environmental Health Officer.
- Registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) or equivalent professional body.
- Qualification meeting the Food Law Code of Practice competency requirements.
