3-month contract role with a local authority
Summary
- This is a 3-month contract role with a local authority, aimed at delivering a comprehensive Grants Agency service. The position involves supporting residents throughout the entire lifecycle of housing grant applications. Key responsibilities include assessing eligibility, managing applications, coordinating works, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and council policies. This role is crucial in improving housing conditions, supporting vulnerable residents, and delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial property inspections and grant surveys to assess eligibility and identify necessary repairs or improvements.
- Advise the public on all aspects of housing grants, loans, and related services.
- Prepare detailed schedules of works, plans, drawings, and obtain contractor estimates.
- Complete and submit grant applications with all required supporting documentation for assessment.
- Evaluate grant applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements.
- Submit applications for Building Control, Planning Permission, and other necessary approvals.
- Oversee and supervise on-site works, monitor progress, and process interim and final payments.
- Promote the Grants Agency Service and identify opportunities for Block Repair Schemes.
- Develop and manage Block Repair Schemes, providing a full agency service to applicants.
Requirements:
- Essential Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience in building construction or a related field.
- Experience delivering services to the public, ideally within housing or grants.
- Experience preparing schedules of work and cost estimates.
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience in building construction or a related field.
- Essential Qualifications Required
- Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Building Construction or a related discipline.
- Degree in Building, Environmental Health, or similar (desirable).
- Membership of a relevant professional body (desirable).
- Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Building Construction or a related discipline.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 37 hours per week.
- Location: Holton Road, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, CF634RU, United Kingdom.
- Work pattern: Hybrid working - 2-3 days in the office.
- Enhanced DBS barred with child required.
- Bi-weekly work schedule.
