3 Month Contract With A Local Authority


Job Purpose

To maintain and enhance communal outdoor spaces to a high standard, ensuring they are safe, clean, and visually appealing for residents. The role involves carrying out a range of grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks while delivering excellent customer service and adhering to health and safety regulations.




Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine grounds maintenance duties including weeding, planting, pruning, watering, and grass cutting.
  • Maintain lawns and landscaped areas using a range of machinery (e.g. mowers, strimmers, brush cutters).
  • Safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery in line with company and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Undertake minor landscaping projects to improve communal environments.
  • Clear leaves, moss, and snow, and apply grit/salt when required.
  • Respond to vandalism (e.g. graffiti removal) and report incidents appropriately.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues or hazards in communal areas.
  • Monitor and report breaches of tenancy agreements such as anti-social behaviour or fly-tipping.
  • Support and guide apprentices or trainees when required.
  • Act as a point of contact for residents, providing assistance or escalating queries.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous approach at all times.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including the use of PPE.
  • Provide cover for colleagues and carry out additional duties as required.


Requirements

  • Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or a similar role.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Full UK driving licence (Category C1) and ability to drive company vehicles.
  • Experience operating a wide range of grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of horticulture or landscaping techniques.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing or housing environment.
  • Relevant qualifications in horticulture or grounds maintenance.
