13 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Operative
Job Purpose
To maintain parks, open spaces, sports facilities, and
public areas through grounds maintenance, horticultural, and environmental
services, ensuring a safe, clean, and attractive environment for the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry
out ground maintenance, landscaping, planting, and horticultural work.
- Maintain
sports pitches, fine turf areas, and public open spaces.
- Conduct
litter picking, weed removal, sweeping, and graffiti removal.
- Inspect
and maintain play areas, reporting defects and hazards.
- Operate
grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters,
and leaf blowers.
- Drive
vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and carry out vehicle/equipment safety checks.
- Follow
all Health & Safety procedures and work effectively as part of a team.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience
in grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, or a similar outdoor
role.
- Experience
using grounds maintenance machinery and hand-held equipment.
- Understanding
of Health & Safety requirements.
- Physically
fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Good
communication and teamwork skills.
Essential Qualifications
- Full
UK Driving Licence (Car).
- Maximum
of 3 penalty points.
Desirable Qualifications
- PA1/PA6
Herbicide Certification.
- Category
BE Licence.
- NVQ
Level 2 in Horticulture, Landscaping, or Grounds Maintenance.
- LANTRA
Certificates and/or First Aid qualification.

at Clean & Green Environmental Depot, Brownhills, WS8 7EN.
- This
is a 13-month temporary assignment with the potential for extension
based on operational requirements.
- Pay
Rate: £18.44 per hour UMB
· Location: Clean & Green Environmental
Depot, Brownhills, WS8 7EN
· Contract: Temporary (13 months, with
potential extension)
· Hours: 37 hours over 4 days,
6:30am–4:30pm, with a 45-minute unpaid break
· Successful candidates will be expected to
demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and a strong commitment to maintaining
public spaces to a high standard.
- The
role involves regular manual handling and physical activity and requires
working in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
· We operate on a bi-weekly payment schedule.
