Job description
12-month contract role with a local authority
Summary
- This 12-month contract role with a local authority is pivotal in managing a broad range of employee relations casework, supporting organizational change initiatives, and contributing to the effective delivery of People Plans and workforce objectives. The HR Advisor will collaborate closely with HR Business Partners and Senior HR Business Partners to deliver a proactive, customer-focused HR service that aligns with operational and strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on a wide range of people-related matters.
- Manage employee relations cases, including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, capability, probation, flexible working, and performance management matters.
- Ensure cases are handled effectively, consistently, and in line with employment legislation, Council policies, and best practices.
- Escalate complex or high-risk employee relations issues to Senior HR colleagues or specialist teams where appropriate.
- Attend formal meetings and hearings, providing procedural advice and support.
Requirements:
- Essential Experience Required
- Experience of providing generalist HR advice within a complex organization.
- Proven experience managing a range of employee relations cases from start to resolution.
- Experience supporting organizational change activities, including restructures and consultation processes.
- Experience of providing generalist HR advice within a complex organization.
- Essential Qualifications Required
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent HR qualification) or significant relevant HR experience.
- Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent HR qualification) or significant relevant HR experience.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 37 hours per week
- Hybrid working with 1-2 days in the office in Chichester
- Interviews of 1 hour to be held in person at County Hall, Chichester
