Job description
4-5 months contract with a local authority
Job Purpose
- To support children
and young people, particularly those who are looked after, at risk of
exclusion, or disengaged from education, by leading on individual case
management, coordinating multi-agency interventions, and developing
personalised education pathways. The post holder will ensure access to
high-quality, inclusive education and alternative provision that promotes
attendance, engagement, achievement, and positive progression outcomes.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Act as the lead professional on allocated learner cases,
coordinating timely and effective multi-agency support.
- Identify and respond proactively to risks of exclusion, poor
attendance, or disengagement from education.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in line with
statutory and organisational requirements.
- Develop and regularly review personalised education and
progression plans tailored to each learner’s strengths, interests, and
aspirations.
- Support smooth transitions between education settings,
alternative provision, training, or post-16 pathways.
- Ensure plans promote long-term engagement, achievement, and
positive destinations.
Essential Experience Required
- Experience working with children and young people,
particularly those who are looked after, vulnerable, or at risk of exclusion or
disengagement.
- Experience of case management and coordinating support
across multiple agencies.
- Experience working within education, early years, youth
services, social care, or a related setting.
- Experience of supporting learners with SEND and/or complex
needs (desirable).
Essential Qualifications Required
- A relevant
qualification in education, youth work, social care, early years, or a related
field (e.g. Level 3 or above).
- Safeguarding
training (or willingness to undertake).
- Knowledge of
statutory education responsibilities relating to children looked after and
vulnerable learners.
Additional information to note
- Working hours: 37 hours per week
- Enhanced DBS check required.
- Driving license required.
- Remote working.
