3 months contract with a local authority

Job Purpose

  • The Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will provide highquality, independent, and traumainformed support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse who are at risk of harm. The role focuses on improving safety, reducing risk, and empowering survivors through advocacy, intervention, and coordinated multiagency working.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Provide emotional and practical support to victims of domestic abuse using a traumainformed approach
  • Complete risk assessments and safety planning using recognised tools such as DASH
  • Develop, implement, review, and update personalised support and intervention plans
  • Support victims through criminal, civil, and family court processes, including applications for protective orders and special measures
  • Facilitate access to safe accommodation, legal support, health services, and specialist community services
  • Conduct proactive casework, including community and home visits and assertive outreach for highrisk and complex cases
  • Advocate on behalf of victims to reduce risk, safeguard wellbeing, and promote positive outcomes
  • Ensure safeguarding responsibilities for adults and children are addressed promptly and in line with statutory procedures

Essential Experience Required

  • Minimum of 2 years’ postqualification experience working with victims of domestic abuse
  • Demonstrable experience of risk assessment, safety planning, and crisis intervention
  • Experience working within multiagency safeguarding frameworks
  • Experience of supporting victims through criminal, civil, and family justice processes

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Level 3 Accredited IDVA Qualification (e.g. SafeLives IDVA or equivalent)
  • Enhanced DBS clearance

  • Working hours: 36 hours per week
  • 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London, London, NW9 4EW, United Kingdom
  • This is mainly an office role as it is face to face work. there is some flexibility but it will be service led.
  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • We work on Bi weekly payment schedule
