3 Month Contract With A Local Authority


Job Purpose

To support individuals in accessing their social care records through Subject Access Requests (SARs), ensuring compliance with data protection legislation. The role also promotes participation by helping service users understand their rights and engage with their personal information in a clear, supportive, and timely manner.




Key Responsibilities

  • Process Subject Access Requests in line with data protection laws, including UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
  • Liaise with social care teams to gather, review, and prepare records for disclosure
  • Redact sensitive or third-party information appropriately before release
  • Maintain accurate records of requests, actions taken, and deadlines
  • Communicate with applicants to clarify requests and provide updates
  • Support service users in understanding their records where required
  • Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of all personal data
  • Work within statutory timeframes and escalate risks or delays
  • Contribute to service improvements and good practice in participation and transparency


Requirements

  • Experience working in social care, administration, or a related setting
  • Basic understanding of data protection principles, including UK GDPR
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Competent in IT systems and record management


Additional Information

  • Hours per week: 37 hours
  • Payment: Bi-weekly
  • Location: Office-based / hybrid (depending on service needs)
