5-6 month contract role with a local authority
Summary
- This is a 5-6 month contract role with a local authority. The primary purpose is to safely operate a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV Class 2) for the collection, transportation, and disposal of waste and recyclables. The role is crucial for ensuring efficient service delivery while maintaining safety standards, environmental compliance, and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Operate HGV Class 2 refuse collection vehicles safely and in accordance with road traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and report any defects promptly.
- Collect and transport domestic, commercial, and industrial waste along designated routes.
- Collaborate with loaders to ensure efficient and timely waste collection services.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling practices.
- Ensure waste is disposed of correctly at authorized sites in line with environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of collections, vehicle checks, and any incidents.
Requirements
Essential Experience Required
- Previous experience as an HGV Class 2 driver, ideally within waste management or a similar environment.
- Experience working in a physically demanding role.
- Familiarity with refuse collection or recycling operations is desirable.
- Proven track record of safe driving and adherence to regulations.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
- Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Good understanding of UK road safety regulations.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 37 hours per week.
- Temporary ongoing.
- Monday-Friday 7:30 am-3:30 pm.
- Driving license required.
- We work on a bi-weekly schedule.
