1-month shift-based contract with a local authority
Summary
- The registered nurse will be engaged in a 1-month shift-based contract with a local authority. This role involves the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for a designated group of service users. The nurse will ensure the delivery of high-standard, patient-focused care, prioritizing patient safety, dignity, and respect.
Responsibilities
- Provide, monitor, and maintain high standards of nursing care through professional actions and communication.
- Conduct routine and non-routine tasks, including medication rounds, clinical observations, and care plan management.
- Assist patients with daily care needs and health promotion activities.
- Participate in clinical supervision and team learning and development.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for a designated group of patients.
- Supervise care staff and therapists, and mentor students such as Nurse Associates.
- Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams, service users, and their relatives/carers.
- Undertake audits as requested by the Registered Manager.
- Manage link roles for specific areas of interest.
- Take charge of the unit while on duty.
Essential Experience Required
- Significant experience in an older person setting, capable of performing professional services and technical tasks, including clinical risk assessment and care plan development.
- Knowledge of care and health legislation, clinical policy frameworks, and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines.
- Experience and competency in delivering end-of-life care.
- Knowledge and experience with safeguarding vulnerable adults procedures.
- Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberties safeguards.
- Proficiency with work-related equipment, systems, procedures, and technology.
Essential Qualification Required
- Must hold a degree or equivalent qualification recognized by the NMC as a first-level registered Nurse.
- Requirement to maintain clinical competencies necessary for the role, such as syringe driver management for end-of-life care and ReSPECT tissue viability assessments.
- Post-registration training or qualification in end-of-life care.
