Job description
3 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
•The Education, Health and Care Coordinator (EHCCo) is responsible for managing and coordinating the statutory EHCP process for children and young people aged 0–25.
•The role ensures compliance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice, delivering timely, lawful and person-centred casework.
•Working remotely, the EHCCo liaises with families, education settings and multi-agency professionals to produce high-quality, defensible EHCPs and manage complex caseloads effectively.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
•Manage a large caseload (250+), ensuring statutory deadlines are consistently met (20-week assessments, annual reviews, tribunals).
•Coordinate the full EHCP process from assessment through to plan finalisation and review.
•Draft clear, compliant and outcome-focused EHCPs that distinguish between needs, provision and outcomes.
•Lead and contribute to annual reviews and reassessments.
•Prepare tribunal documentation and represent the Local Authority through written evidence.
•Act as the main point of contact for families, schools and professionals.
•Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including education, health and social care.
•Escalate complex or high-risk cases appropriately through management structures.
•Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with local authority requirements.
•Ensure all communication is professional, clear and aligned with policy and statutory duties.
Skills/Experience:
•Minimum 12 months’ experience in a similar EHCP/EHC Coordinator role within a Local Authority.
•Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
•Proven experience managing high-volume caseloads (250+ cases).
•Experience completing 20-week assessments and annual reviews.
•Tribunal experience, including preparing packs and responding to legal processes.
•Excellent written skills with the ability to produce high-quality EHCPs.
•Strong organisational and time management skills.
•Ability to handle complex, sensitive and high-conflict situations professionally.
•Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
•Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
