3 Month Contract With A Local Authority



Job Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Worker to join a newly established 2-bed children’s home in Whetstone, N20. This is a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable young people in a safe, nurturing environment and help them achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people living in the home.
  • Promote a safe, structured, and supportive environment in line with safeguarding and care standards.
  • Assist with daily routines including meals, education, activities, and appointments.
  • Build trusting relationships with young people, encouraging their development and independence.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning and reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff, external professionals, and families.
  • Respond to challenging behaviour with empathy and professionalism, using de-escalation techniques.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in children’s residential care settings.
  • Proven ability to support vulnerable young people, including those with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Ideally hold or be working towards NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and care standards.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins if required.
  • Enhanced DBS check required (or willingness to undergo one).
