SEND Consultant (3-Month Contract with Local Authority)

Summary
  • The SEND Consultant will spearhead the thorough testing and refinement of a proposed financial banding framework and will create a transparent, evidence-based cost library to aid decision-making across SEND provision. This role is crucial in ensuring fair, consistent, and financially accurate funding decisions for children and young people with SEND.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed, systematic testing of the proposed SEND banding framework.
  • Use real cases, scenarios, and modeling to verify fairness, accuracy, and internal consistency.
  • Identify gaps, risks, or inconsistencies and propose practical, evidence-based solutions.
  • Ensure the framework reflects diverse needs across mainstream, specialist, and post-16 settings.
Requirements
  • Significant experience working within a local authority SEND service.
  • Strong operational understanding of SEND practice within schools and settings.
  • Proven ability to independently deliver complex projects and produce high-quality outputs.
  • Experience producing professional reports for senior leadership or board-level decision-making.
  • In-depth understanding of statutory SEND processes.
