3 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Job Purpose
The Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer will provide expert legal advice on commercial contracts and procurement matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organisational policies. The role supports the business by managing contractual risk, advising on procurement strategies, and delivering practical legal solutions that enable commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts and procurement agreements.
- Provide legal guidance on procurement processes, regulations, and best practices.
- Identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks associated with contracts and supplier relationships.
- Support stakeholders throughout the contract lifecycle, from tender to execution and contract management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal governance frameworks.
- Advise on contract disputes, variations, and interpretation of contractual terms.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers to facilitate effective contract management.
- Keep up to date with developments in procurement and commercial law and provide proactive legal advice.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent legal professional with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience advising on commercial contracts and procurement matters.
- Strong knowledge of procurement legislation and commercial law.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
