1-2 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• Senior Social Worker (2+ Years’ Experience) required by Birmingham Children's Trust to support the safeguarding and promotion of welfare for vulnerable children and young people across the city.
• This is an Inside IR35 agency opportunity within Operations, working in a high-performing service rated GOOD by Ofsted.
• The postholder will manage allocated cases, undertake statutory assessments and interventions, and work in partnership with families and multi-agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Manage an allocated caseload as directed by the Team Manager.
• Undertake statutory assessments in line with safeguarding legislation and local authority procedures.
• Collect, record and critically analyse information using case management systems.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people is paramount in all decision-making.
• Provide practical day-to-day support and interventions to children and families.
• Prepare high-quality reports for court, case conferences and statutory reviews.
• Maintain accurate, evidence-based case recording in line with organisational and statutory requirements.
• Liaise effectively with partner agencies to ensure a joined-up multi-agency approach.
• Attend and contribute to team meetings, supervision and service reviews.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, policies, court processes and best practice.

Skills/Experience:
• Minimum 2 years’ post-qualified experience as a Social Worker.
• Registered Social Worker (Social Work England).
• Strong safeguarding and child protection experience.
• Experience completing statutory assessments (CIN, CP, LAC where applicable).
• Ability to manage a complex caseload independently.
• Experience of court work and report writing.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together guidance).
• Experience working within a local authority or children’s trust setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work within established guidelines with appropriate supervision.

• Hours: 36.5 per week (08:45–17:15).
• Umbrella/Ltd Rate: £30.57 per hour.
• DBS: Required (role exempt from Rehabilitation of Offenders Act).
