Job Purpose

Key Duties/Accountabilities

• Conduct routine and risk-based food hygiene inspections across various premises.
  
• Assess compliance with food safety legislation, codes of practice, and local authority standards.
  
• Provide clear feedback and guidance to food business operators to achieve compliance.
  
• Investigate food-related complaints, including food safety concerns and hygiene issues.
  
• Gather evidence, carry out inspections, and take appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
  
• Prepare reports and documentation to support enforcement decisions.
  

Essential Experience Required

• Experience in conducting food hygiene inspections and/or complaint investigations.
  
• Strong knowledge of food safety legislation and enforcement processes.
  
• Experience managing an independent caseload.
  

Essential Qualifications Required

• Environmental Health degree or equivalent qualification (or Food Safety qualification recognized by the FSA).
  
• Must be Food Competent in line with the Food Law Code of Practice.
  
• Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or equivalent (desirable).
  

Additional Information

• Working hours: 20 hours per week.
  
• Remote working.
  
• We operate on a bi-weekly schedule.
