5-month contract role with a local authority
Summary
- This 5-month contract role with a local authority focuses on delivering a customer-centric empty property management and lettings service for both residential and non-residential units, such as garages, sheds, allocated parking bays, cycle stores, and converted laundry spaces. The position is crucial for minimising void turnaround times, maximising rental income, ensuring compliance with housing legislation and council policies, and effectively managing waiting lists, contractors, and parking enforcement arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Manage empty residential properties through the voids and lettings process, including arranging and conducting viewings, completing tenancy sign-ups, and scheduling new tenant visits for Neighbourhood Housing Officers.
- Let non-residential units in line with agreed policies and procedures, including garages, sheds, cycle stores, and allocated parking bays.
- Maintain and manage waiting lists for non-residential units, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Respond to correspondence, complaints, Members’ enquiries, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, and Subject Access Requests within the remit of the post, making recommendations to improve service delivery.
- Provide advice, assistance, and information to residents on income maximisation services and tenancy-related matters.
Experience
- Working in a housing management, lettings, or property-related environment.
- Managing voids, lettings, or non-residential assets such as garages or parking facilities.
- Delivering customer-focused services and handling enquiries, complaints, or correspondence.
Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Good working knowledge of housing management practices, lettings processes, and customer service standards.
- Understanding of relevant housing legislation, data protection, and equality duties.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 35 hours per week.
- We work on Bi-weekly payments.
