3 Months Contract with a Local Authority

Summary
  • The role involves coordinating and managing the statutory SEND assessment and Education, Health and Care (EHC) planning process for children and young people. The purpose is to ensure their needs are accurately identified and met in compliance with legislative requirements. The post holder will support schools, settings, services, and families in applying the graduated approach, fostering collaborative multi-agency working, and placing children, young people, and their families at the center of all decision-making.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the full statutory assessment process for children and young people with SEND, from initial referral through to the development, issue, and review of the Education, Health and Care Plan.
  • Ensure all statutory timescales are met in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
  • Monitor pupil progress against outcomes outlined in EHC plans, ensuring timely review and intervention.
  • Support schools, settings, and services in applying the graduated approach to meeting SEND needs.
  • Offer guidance, advice, and problem-solving support to SENCOs, Headteachers, and other professionals.
  • Ensure families remain fully engaged and informed throughout the assessment, planning, and review process.
Essential Experience Required
  • Recent experience working within an educational or Children’s Services environment, ideally as a SEND Casework Officer.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and SENDIST regulations.
Essential Qualifications Required
  • Relevant qualification in education, SEND, social care, or related field, OR extensive professional experience in SEND casework.
Additional Information
  • Working hours: 35 hours per week
  • Please note, we work on bi-weekly payments.
  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • Minimum 2 days on-site per week in Parklands, Conleach Road, Speke, Liverpool L24 OTY
