6 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• Temporary Health & Safety Manager for Housing Responsive Repairs at Southwark Council, primarily based at Frensham Street Depot, with one day at London Bridge office and one day remote.
• Responsible for providing professional H&S support, ensuring legal compliance, and maintaining an effective safety management system across responsive repairs operations.
• Contract: 24 weeks, 36 hours per week, Limited/Umbrella £37.91/hr.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Lead the development, review, and compliance of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Conduct audits, inspections, and H&S investigations; deliver performance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Advise operational teams and contractors on CDM 2015 duties and compliance.
• Support stakeholders across the Council’s Housing Repairs & Maintenance department.
• Deliver training, briefings, and seminars on H&S policies and best practice.
• Monitor compliance with health & safety legislation and Council standards.
• Maintain effective record-keeping and reporting using relevant systems.

Skills/Experience:
• Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation.
• IOSH membership and recognised H&S qualification (degree or diploma).
• Experience in DLO (Direct Labour Organisation) or construction environments.
• Proven auditing, investigation, data analysis, and training experience.
• Ability to deliver legal compliance and effective safety management.
• Experience in public sector housing.
• Contractor management experience.
• CDM-related project experience.
• Additional H&S or auditing certifications.

Additional Information:
• Bi-Weekly Payments.
• Work pattern: 3 days on-site, 1 day at London Bridge, 1 day remote.
