Job description

2 Month Contract With A Local Authority

Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality occupational therapy services to clients, supporting their independence and daily living skills. The role includes conducting assessments, planning and delivering interventions, and supporting clients with adaptive equipment. In addition, the successful candidate will manage the collection, delivery, installation, and safe demonstration of small mobility and daily living equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments of clients’ physical, cognitive, and functional needs.

  • Develop, implement, and review individualized intervention plans.

  • Provide direct therapy sessions to support clients’ independence and functional abilities.

  • Advise and educate clients, families, and carers on strategies to promote safety and independence.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional standards and organisational policies.

  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, social workers, and care staff.

  • Collect small equipment (e.g., bath boards, toilet frames, commodes) from the local Haringey P store.

  • Safely transport and deliver equipment to clients’ homes.

  • Install equipment correctly and ensure it meets the client’s individual needs.

  • Demonstrate safe and effective use of equipment to clients, families, and carers.

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment delivered, installed, and returned.

  • Adhere to all professional, legal, and ethical standards of occupational therapy practice.

  • Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) activities.

  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Attend team meetings and clinical supervision sessions as required.


Requirements:

  • Registered Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Experience working in community or clinical settings.

  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment and home modifications for daily living.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and install small equipment safely.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred.

  • Community-based role requiring travel to clients’ homes.

  • Manual handling of small equipment as part of the role.

  • Flexible approach to meet the needs of clients.
