6 Months Contract With A local Authority

We have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Social Worker to join our Child Care Assessment Team, providing vital support to children and families. The team undertakes statutory responsibilities including child protection, working with Looked After Children, court-related cases, and family support in line with the Social Services and Well Being (Wales) Act 2014 and associated codes of practice.

As a Social Worker within CCAT, you will play a critical role in ensuring children and families in Pembrokeshire receive the services they need, safeguarding vulnerable children and supporting families through assessment, intervention, and planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough child care assessments within statutory timescales.
  

• Undertake child protection investigations, including Section 47 inquiries.
  

• Manage a personal caseload, including Court cases and high-risk child-in-need cases.
  

• Participate in the S.47 JI rota, ensuring timely and effective responses to safeguarding concerns.
  

• Assess and respond to concerns related to child exploitation and other safeguarding risks.
  

• Contribute to the ongoing development of the S.47 and Assessment Teams.
  

• Work collaboratively across all social care teams to ensure consistency and quality of service delivery.
  

• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in line with statutory and local policies.
  

Requirements

• Qualification: Social Work qualified and registered with the Social Care Wales.
  

• Experience in child protection, assessment, or family support work.
  

• Knowledge of statutory frameworks, including the Social Services and Well Being (Wales) Act 2014.
  

• Ability to manage complex caseloads and work under pressure to meet statutory timescales.
  

• Strong communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
  

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  

• Flexible and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively as part of a rota and within a team.
