Summary
- This position is situated within the Housing Advice, Information, and Assessment Service. The role is crucial in delivering a proactive, holistic, personalized, and integrated Housing Advice and Support service. The primary aim is to prevent and alleviate homelessness while supporting service users in achieving independent living.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice on areas such as security of tenure, possession proceedings, housing rights post-relationship breakdown, welfare and housing benefits, tax credits, debt counseling, housing options, employment and training opportunities, support services, and long-term accommodation options.
- Employ a casework approach to identify solutions that meet customer needs, assisting them in accessing necessary services to achieve desired outcomes.
- Develop and review solution-focused and person-centered action/support plans with both short and long-term goals to address customer needs.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships, collaborating with internal and external individuals and organizations to offer advice and support to vulnerable adults and young people.
- Conduct relevant inquiries, assess accommodation eligibility, and make complex decisions in line with current legislation, codes of guidance, case law, and policy, with a focus on the Housing Act 1996 as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002 & 2004, or subsequent legislation.
- Issue comprehensive decision letters that comply with prevailing legislation, codes of guidance, and case law.
Essential Experience
- Extensive working knowledge of housing options and Housing legislation, particularly Part VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended), Security of Tenure, Welfare and Housing Benefits, and Immigration.
- Experience in providing support, advice, and guidance in a complex environment.
Essential Qualifications
- General education or a related qualification is essential.
