Job description
3 months contract with local authority
We are seeking a dedicated Social Work Manager to join our team in Leominster, contributing to our mission of enhancing the lives of children and families in Herefordshire. This role is pivotal in managing one of our five social work teams, focusing on Safeguarding & Support. The successful candidate will bring expertise in child protection, care proceedings, and adoption, and will lead a team of social workers and family support workers. As part of our locality-based model, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality supervision and case direction, ensuring improved outcomes for children. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within the local authority and support our restorative journey of improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of social workers and family support workers.
- Provide high-quality supervision and case direction.
- Focus on improving outcomes for children through relationship-based and restorative practices.
- Collaborate effectively as part of the service management team.
- Implement service and quality improvement methods.
- Manage staff and budgets to meet challenging performance expectations.
- Work closely with the Council’s Legal Team on court applications.
- Attend meetings and office sessions as required.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work or equivalent.
- Significant post-qualification social work experience.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Proven record of effective service delivery and staff management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to embedding good practice and improving outcomes for children.
- Ability to work within a locality-based model with flexibility for home working.
