2 months contract with a local authority
Summary
- The postholder is responsible for providing governance oversight and operational assurance across designated financial assistance schemes. This includes validating, authorising, and assuring funding decisions to ensure full compliance with financial regulations, audit standards, and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide governance oversight for financial assistance schemes, ensuring compliance, transparency, and alignment with statutory and funding-body requirements.
- Lead senior review, validation, and formal authorisation of complex funding decisions and applications recommended for payment.
- Ensure decisions meet financial regulations, audit standards, and policy frameworks.
- Identify, manage, and escalate strategic risks including safeguarding, fraud indicators, operational risks, systemic issues, and financial irregularities.
- Support the development and implementation of risk-mitigation measures.
Essential Experience Required
- Experience authorising or approving funding decisions or financial transactions within a regulated or audit-controlled environment.
- Experience producing statutory monitoring returns, performance reports, or detailed datasets for scrutiny.
Essential Qualifications Required
- A relevant Level 4 qualification or equivalent professional experience in funding, compliance, operational governance, or related complex service areas.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 36 hours per week
- Location: Churchill Court, 2 Westmoreland Road, Bromley, Kent, BR1 1AS, United Kingdom.
- Interviews will be in-person at Bromley Civic Centre.
- Candidates will be required to complete a series of in-tray tasks as part of the interview process.
- We work on a bi-weekly payment schedule.
