Job description

3 Month Contract With A Local Authority


Job Purpose

To carry out servicing, inspections, repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance of Council fleet vehicles, ensuring they are safe, roadworthy, and fully operational. The role includes working on specialist vehicle bodies, including hydraulic and electrical systems.



Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine servicing and scheduled inspections on HGVs and fleet vehicles

  • Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems

  • Maintain and repair specialist vehicle bodies and associated equipment

  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard in line with safety and regulatory requirements

  • Accurately complete job records, inspection sheets, and maintenance documentation

  • Identify and report additional repair needs or safety concerns

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the workshop

  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient workshop operations



Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light or Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering

  • Proven experience in HGV maintenance and repair

  • Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems

  • Good understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop environment

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team


Additional Information
  • 37 Working Hours Per Week
  • Based in Trostre Depot - 8am - 4pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am -3.30pm Friday.
