4 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• The Occupational Therapy Lead (Interim) will act as a Team Manager within Herefordshire Council’s Independent Living Service (ILS), providing leadership and operational oversight to Community Occupational Therapy teams.
• The role focuses on ensuring high-quality, evidence-based practice while supporting adults to maximise independence, safety, and wellbeing.
• This is a key interim position to maintain service stability and drive transformation during a period of organisational change.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Provide day-to-day management and leadership of locality-based Community Occupational Therapy teams.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based OT practice across the service.
• Oversee triage, workflow management, and case allocation to maintain efficiency and timeliness.
• Implement and embed recommendations from the OT Practice Review.
• Deliver effective supervision, performance management, and professional support to staff.
• Support service development, transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with health partners, including Wye Valley Trust therapy services.
• Facilitate integrated working across hospital, community, and reablement pathways.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and professional standards.
• Maintain accurate reporting and contribute to service planning and performance monitoring.

Skills/Experience:
• Qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.
• Significant post-qualification experience in adult social care or community OT services.
• Proven experience in a Team Manager or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of OT best practice, legislation, and safeguarding frameworks.
• Experience managing complex caseloads and service pressures.
• Demonstrable leadership, supervision, and staff development skills.
• Excellent organisational and workflow management abilities.
• Strong partnership working experience with health and multidisciplinary teams.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to lead through change and service transformation.

Additional Information:
• Bi-Weekly Payments.
• Location: Plough Lane, Hereford (hybrid/work pattern to be confirmed).
• Contract: Temporary (16 weeks).
• Hours: 37 hours per week.
• Rate: £45.00 Umbrella.
