3 Month Contract With A Local Authority


Job Purpose:

The Turnaround Practitioner works with children referred to the Youth Justice Service (YJS), delivering tailored interventions and support plans aimed at promoting positive change, reducing risk, and enhancing the safety of the child and others. The role involves assessing needs, implementing interventions, and coordinating with multi-agency partners to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s development and wellbeing.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children referred to YJS to identify risks, needs, and protective factors
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized support plans designed to encourage positive behavior and reduce reoffending.
  • Review progress regularly and adjust plans as needed.
  • Provide direct support and evidence-based interventions to children to address behavioral, social, and emotional challenges
  • Work closely with social services, education, health services, law enforcement, and other relevant agencies to ensure coordinated support
  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of children, identifying and responding to risks promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, plans, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Provide reports and recommendations to supervisors and multi-agency teams.
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision to maintain best practices in youth justice and safeguarding.


Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Experience working with children, particularly in challenging or high-risk contexts.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and youth justice systems.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.

  • Empathy, resilience, and commitment to improving outcomes for children.
